Tribological Behaviors of Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride Sliding against Bearing Steel in Vacuum Conditions

In order to understand the surface and interface conditions of polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PcBN) sliding against bearing steel in vacuum environments, effects different loads on tribological behaviors PcBN AISI 52100 were studied deeply a tribometer. Furthermore, wear tracks scars characterized by scanning electron microscopy energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The results show that stable coefficient friction (CoF) tribopair experiences decrease first then an increase with from 2 N 15 N. adhesive layer increases loads, formation contributes change CoF rate counterpart balls. is formed due combination high contact stress temperature.
